Sione Tu'itavake Fonua, a native of Nuku'alofa, Tonga, grew up in a family of 10 siblings and attended Tailulu College. After completing his education, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Law with honors from The University of London at Oxford. He married Julie Fonua (née Britteon) from Grimsby and later moved to New Zealand, where they raised three children in the Auckland suburb of Ponsonby.
Throughout his life, Mr. Fonua harbored a strong desire to return to Tonga, contribute to the Kingdom's emerging tourism industry, and generate employment opportunities for fellow Tongans. In 2016, he, along with his family, turned this aspiration into reality, proudly presenting their 100% Tongan family-owned and built hotel: The House of Tonga!
